Kia ora koutou, greetings...
It is both my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to Te Kauwhata Primary School.
We are a contributing school in the village of Te Kauwhata and pride ourselves on our place within the community and the sense of 'whanau' and 'belonging' that we strongly believe in and demonstrate.
At the end of 2015 we were very proud to have constructed our Waharoa. The Waharoa was designed and carved by local Whanau and community and represents and embraces all that our school stands for.
TKP is a progressive school, embracing e-Learning with a range of modern devices as integral tools for supporting and enhancing quality teaching and learning in this 21st Century.
TKP is a PB4L-SW school (Positive Behaviour for Learning - School Wide), which builds on our vision and values of WeCARE. PB4L School-Wide looks at behaviour and learning from a whole-of-school as well as an individual child perspective. We have been accredited as being a Tier 1 PB4L-SW school and we are now working in Tier 2 of the PB4L-SW programme.
In 2023 we now have 3 bilingual classrooms. Room 9 which is our Year 1 and 2 class has been named Maahoe. Room 7 which is our Year 3 and 4 class has been named Patetee. Room 8 which is our Year 5 and 6 class has been named Hiinau.
As a staff we are a 'team' of learners who, like our students, learn from each other and welcome all opportunities to continue to grow our roles and competencies in these 'exponential' times.
Each month I hosts a morning or afternoon tea for parents to come and discuss their child learning, the ins and outs of the school or just to get to know me. Date can be found on the school calendar on our website. I look forward to see you!
Te Kauwhata Primary School is a great place to be!
Thank you, we welcome visits to our school.
We C.A.R.E.
Kind regards,
Brian Martin
Principal
